I am wondering if anyone knows if the chrome trim piece which runs horizontally across the boot (for example on Monaro) and is level with the top of the tail lights (as best I can tell from a few photos I have of this area) and separates the body colour from the blackout on the lower section of the boot is the same as the chrome trim on the exterior on the sedan sill. If it is, and since I have spare sedan sill, I am considering using it for the boot trim (which I don't have!).

Mate I think HT sedan (kingswood) and Monaro sill trims are the same as are HT sedan (kingswood) and Monaro boot moulds. |

I think you will find that the top of the stainless (not chrome) boot trim is not level with the top of the tail lights on HT. The well in the centre of the trim is about level with the top of the tail light. When you put it together that should be self explanatory, unless there has been some very major and inaccurate surgery to either the rear quarter panel or the boot lid. In which case you will have several other issues to deal with as well!
