How can i tell what gearbox IE auto or manual my 1972 HQ GTS left the factory with? Is it possible from the chassis number plate?
Seam to think i remember it was only the later cars that had that info on the plates?

I may be able to help. Send me the ID plate details and i'll have a look. Some you can tell from the plates, others you have to look elsewhere.

You've given everything but the number I need, the important one is the VIN. See what ADR's are on the ADR plate too.

isn't the vin/chassis number the first number?
ADR = 1,2,3,4,5A,7,8,9,10A,10B,11,12,14,15,20,21,22,25,26.

Is it possible to work out the original size motor as well?

The PSN should be very close to J346718, if not bang on

That is the chassis number. The VIN is on its own plate (the thin one). As Leroy says though it has ADR9 on it so an auto.
