Hi,
Just wondering if I can have some help working out what is wrong with my VT. I have been reading heaps of threads regarding faulty ABS Module and I suspect this is what is wrong with my car but I have an extra issue (car not starting properly) and I'm not sure if they are linked or 2 separate issues. Problems are:
- Car starting slowly. I turn the key there is nothing for a couple of seconds the it starts up with a slight grinding noise at the beginning of it starting (if that makes sense) There has been times it won't start, then I wait for 10 minutes or so than it starts. -Once car is on the ABS, Trac, air bags, oil, & engine lights stay on. - Air conditioning has stopped working - Temperature gauge sits at cold always - Fuel gauge sits at 1/4 but has been there for a while so I'm not questioning how accurate it is. - As soon as car starts the fan is on, running flat
The starting problem has been happening for a while (6 months or so but worse in the last couple of weeks)
The lights/fan/air-con problem has just started today.
So I am wondering should I assume the ABS module needs replacing? Would this fix all the issues? Maybe a starter motor or alternator for the starting issue? I would really appreciate some advice on how I should go about this as I don't want to be replacing things that I don't have to :)
Thanks for your help, much appreciated

I'd check the starting issue first, and get it sorted out.
Low battery voltage can also trigger the same range of CAN-BUS faults that the ABS module does. |

The starting issue might be something as simple as a worn out starter motor?
check connections and earths, VT's aren't young cars anymore

Thanks for all the advice.
I'm going to test the battery and the alternator first then I will report back here on how I went and where to go from there

Two easy things to check up front, that will cost you nothing are to check the battery cable connection at the starter solenoid, these often come loose. Second one is my simple check for a possible faulty ABS module, is to just unplug it & run without it while you're checking other stuff. The ABS & traction lights will remain on, but the rest of the dash & control should return to normal.
IMHO the ABS will cause most of your listed faults, but most of the other items mentioned above are also worth checking on any 15 year old car. Battery & alternator checks are relatively simple.
