Can any one tell me if a faulty BCM will bring up a code saying that the SDM has a internal fault Or has any one heard of problems with the SDM. This is on a 1999 v6 VT sdn.

my VT is experiencing the same problems that the other subscribers reported. ABS, Trac Off, Engine Warning Lamp and Air Bag light comes on after about 15 mins driving. Both fans kick in, temperature gauge freezes, AC doesnt work. These symptoms sometimes disappear after another 15-20 mins. The low oil pressure lamp also comes on at the same time but not in every case. Sounds like the ABS module problem you suggest. Any help or contact email would be appreciated.

Hi,
I have been experiencing similar problems with my 99 VT Acclaim Auto. But not quite the same. The car has been recently serviced but the dealership could found no evidence of the problem, ie no codes retained in BCM or ABS module, with the answer that it might (!!!) be the ABS module ($700 plus please). We recently replaced the keys using the Mr Minit cheaper option. This all worked fine with the key registering OK with the BCM etc. The dealership knew all this and didnt suspect this as problem. We have had the car stall at idle or coming to idle, with traction control indicator flashing on, but being able to restart thankfully. The car always unlocks and starts fine first thing in the morning. But after a drive we have also experienced intermittent inability to unlock and restart (a real problem if you have stopped to get fuel!!). But after 5 or minutes, everything works again. Is this the ABS module or something else??? Help please, it is driving us crazy!!!!

Hi Guys,

I have a VT 97 Exec, recently it has started to shutter and almost stall when idoling and driving slowly. Also, not sure if this is a related problem but when I accelarate it is slow to react and jumps around, and still shutters around.

I have been told it could be a problem with the fuel injectors or an electrical problem??

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Hunch.

It's most likely ignition leads. Check to spark plugs & measure the ignition coils while you're there.
