Current project underway is a hq ls coupe factory 350, one of 216 of these cars built by holden Its a matching numbers car and was ontained from FNQ thanks to my mate in melbourne and his father who was travelling in QLD at the time. I had been searching for a project for a while and I was lucky enough to stumble across this one " with a little help from my friend" Its a 350 factory hq ls, with a prototype sliding sunroof, 3.36 lsd and turbo 400, I told quite a rare car, its got factory power windows, aircond and power steer. As I said its a rebuild project First job was to get the engine to run, it had been filled with oil and in storage for 8 years, I got it running after a while, what a bloody racket, I pulled the timing case cover off to reveal a gear drive! next i removed all hang on panels and ripped out the eng and trans, next was to strip the shell and have it sand blasted, gees the blasting has revealled quitre a few previuos repairs as well as blowing some holes in the floor and boot. A donner car was sought for a complete front floor pan and pillar sections. A road trip from PERTH TO KALGOORLIE uncovered a nosw rh outer, a repairable rh door and a set of gts gaurds. This car is going to be rebuilt to orginal except for the gaurds. I have been told by the previuos owner that this car was built and used as part of holdens road show of the time, hence its optioned up with a gts dash as well. Anyway the photos are on the following link. Im chasing some parts if anyone can help, rear window mouldings, rear seat frames cause mine are very rusty! http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w275/itsmint/

Yep the car came from the rocky area, in need of alot of work though!. I would say it underwent a 80s rebuild, had a half roll cage put in at the same time, and had some rust repairs. The body has seen better days, but I reakon I can bring it back. Proven to be a lot of work so far, with a great deal more ahead. ps looking for rear window chrome 0411332664 ta

Udate to the project p have got a rear window set of chrome from a melb wrecker at a very reasonable price, also imported a good secondhand scuttle panel that a mate cut out of one of his hq sedan wrecks. secured a good boot floor from a very helpful chap in balga, and a very good beaver tail panel from another sedan. All sill replacements completed, front floor sections replaced from donner sedan, rear floor pans under back seat replaced from same donner, parcel shelf roll bar holes repaired, rear sub frame chassis section replaced. Next jobs, remove rusted boot floor and fit donner floor, remove scuttle panel and replace with donner, replace rear beaver tail panel(big job!!!!!!!! but due to a previous arse end hit, needs to be done as the existing one is half porcelain) will post some more photos soon on link. Like to mention have had a lot of good advice and help from the guys here in wa doing coupe rebuilds now or in the past with info and contacts

Update for thoses that are interested. All floors now complete, inside painted with body deadner and two pack black paint. I decided to go this way to protect the floors from rusting in the future and to minimize road noise. Under the car the floor pans are painted 2 pack black and look really smick. Both sill panels are completed. Rear panel was cut out and replaced due to being full of bog, unfortunately I was unable to pick up on the production joints on the rear quarters and had to join quarter panels anout an inch higher. The car had previously sustained a hard hit up the back and a lot of filler was used. Looks pretty good now though. The rear cut was obtained from a wreckers in Malaga for $300 that hurt a bit considering in the past Ive had several q sedans i sent to scrap with good panel parts! Next Roof gutters are very rusted with some less than good repairs. Ive unpicked a sedan roof along the joins to the gutter, and whilst the profile isnt the same towards the back of the coupe roof, Im going to cut, shrink and roll it to get the profile. Im using the coupe gutter moulding as a template. Anyone else done this before pls let me know what you did. After the roof gutters are complete, it will be time for the scuttle and plenum chambers to be replaced. Then the sunroof repair, its got a protype sliding panel sunroof fitted and is believed to be an orginal fittment during the build of the car. The reason I reakon its a prototype hj sunroof is because its slightly different from that of the hj series sunroof. This car was build for the gmh release show circuit apparently so I was told from the guy I bought it from, which would be consistant with the sunroof fitment and that its actually different from the hjs If anyone has a q stato or other with a sliding panel sunroof I would be interested to look at it via photos or in person if possible. Manily beacuse I have to manufacture the parts to repair mine, and some parts are just flogged out too much. [email protected] some new photos added see link below http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w275/itsmint/
