I know this is Rare’s site and all, but why is it that Rare Spares go to all the trouble of producing replacement parts.
Then to get said part home and it does not fit quite right. NQR
Don’t get me wrong here, we would be stuffed without you guys and a lot of your bits are fantastic.
My point is how hard it to get to just that little bit better. If these parts were as Holden produced them the NOS market would cease to exist.

Point is case is the HKTG Moanro pillar lights and rust repair sections for the front lower guards. Actually all rust repair panels.
Front lower guard rust repair sections for example are produced from thin substandard steel with the wrong profile and not enough material around the wheel arch area.
Now I understand about tooling costs and short runs and all of that. But why is this still happening.

I for one would be happy to pay a lot more for parts that fit right first time.
So too are many others who will buy NOS Holden parts off Ebay for crazy prices.

First of all thanks for the feedback good or bad we don’t mind as long as it is constructive. To answer your point firstly the front fender sections where never made by GMH , they are made from 1mm BHP steel which we believe to be the best and the are the same thickness as GMH’s product. As for fitment can you supply a picture of exactly what you mean and I will look into it? Secondly the pillar lens we have sold 1000’s with no problems, you do know there are two types the clear one and the white one, if that’s not the problem can you please tell me what the problem is.
We do try to improve our parts and we endeavour to make the parts to the best quality we can with limited tooling and production runs, we do not have the luxury of amortising the tooling over a production run of 100,000 vehicles

I will try and explain this the best I can.

OK, The first shot is one of your rust repair section and a rust free lower stock section of a HK GTS guard.
Now the steel for the lip that run toward the wheel is too thin, not enough material to match the stock guard. If this is left you end up with a step between the stock original section and the repair..
Next the profile is wrong on the Rares section. See the curve in the stock guard, Rares one is flat.
Now as for the good quality BHP steel, that really surprise me. I don’t know about you but there is a big difference when you weld the too different steels.
Your product appears to be thinner to me and has a tendency to splatter and every easy to blow a hole in it. Where the stock steel does not do this.

Oh yes I forgot to mention the panel line you can see from the on top view, your line is very round.
Sorry to be a bit picky but I and a few mates have had to persevere with the currant repair sections for a long time and thought they could be improved.
That is why I have posted this, not to be picky.

Also as I said before we do appreciate your products.

Sorry for the late reply I have been trying to tidy a few loose ends before I go on holidays, I have spoken to the press shop manager and we are going to refurbish the die as soon as we can fit it in. Thanks for pointing out the problem

Pffffffffffft, sounds like a fob off to me.

What the HELL does that mean.

I go to all the trouble to dig out a perfect lower guard section post up some pics and that’s the response I get.

This BS about good quality steel is a croc. You can not use good steel with soft tooling.

Well guys that’s just typical response from Rares in my experience.
