hi, i changed my auto on my vn, which is a v6. i was told i could use a vp auto as well, which i did. fitted no probs. but my trouble is, now when i go to start the car, it maks a HIGH pitch sound, and sometimes it wont crank. I replaced the starter (bosch), and it still makes the sound. the fly wheel is still good as well.......any thoughts..could it be a different bellhousing, (vn....vp)
thanks

When u say "High pitched noise", do u mean "teeth grinding" ? Did the Flex plate or Torque converter get changed?

Your problem is definitely in the torque converter/flexplate area. Actually you can't necessarily just swap auto boxes either.....even if they are VN/VP. Needs to be the same model number (4HDD, 5HDD, 7HDD etc). Some transmissions are forward compatible Edited by user Sunday, 26 June 2005 5:14:16 PM(UTC)
