Tony,
i have scratched my head for a few days trying to work out how you have arrived at a figure of over $200,000 for a mint unmolested HT350 in todays market....
the record price paid as far as I am aware for a HT was for a Sebring Orange HT350 with 10Z interior at the Sydney Motor Show Auction.... this was in November 2007 when the muscle car boom was about at its peak.... now I agree that this car was undersold but its hard to argue with any price attained for a well marketed example of a beautifully presented 350....
at the same point excellent examples of HK327s were changing hands for up to $315,000....
in the last 6 months I doubt any have changed hands for more than $170K... a picardy red 327 which was judged in concours at the 2008 nationals was purchased not much before that for $150 - $165K.... exact figure not disclosed but I am reliably informed by N... the new owner that this is the range... the examples on the open market today include... former concours runner up at loxton, warwick yellow 327 owned by D..... on the market for $210,000 down from $285,000 and still no takers for this quality car....
I inspected a 327 in Canberra for a friend 2 weeks ago... genuine car that needs a resto but a complete registered original example... for sale for $140,000 with books... straight after canberra we looked at a silver mink 327 at Aus muscle car sales with Harry Christian... very nice original car with exceptionally good goya red interior for sale at $140,000... better overall condition than the canberra car... but no books...
and yes whilst i agree that the best cars will always command the best money.... the best money is not what it used to be.... the market will rebound eventually and the sale prices will rise again but that could be a few years away yet...
and yes the HT 350 has race pedigree, but it has never commanded the money of the 327... dont ask me why i could never understand it either...
Tony could you elaborate how you canme to your original figure of $200K plus because opinions dont mean much in the marketplace... and yes whilst i respect your opinion... i would like to know on what basis your opinion was formed.... cheers
so to the original thread starter HT350...
in my opinion (which doesnt mean much either btw) in todays market your car if restored by the right person would be worth about $150,000 (as long as its not verdoro green)... my best advice would be to join the local monaro club and get the advice of the HT nuts in the club... their advice will be invaluable
good luck
Alan
