The Chassis number on the sub frame should be able to tell you the year

Steve, by your paint code(Mist Grey)it was only used in 1954. To double check, see if your shockers are behind the rear axle, eg.between diff housing and rear of car. AL.

Hi, thanks for the replys. The shockies seem to be mounted to the front of the diff. There is no diff in the car and the top shockie mount is infront of the back seat supports to the floor.

The original colour is a two tone green, not grey. It looks factory.

The chassis number is 6-8240-S.

Anymore help would be appreciated.

thanks and cheers

Hi Steve,
The 6 in the chassis number means 1956.

Maurice, the digit 5 is for 1955 and is the 13888th assembled at Brisbane ( YES, the 13888th not 14888th, the 1st number started at 1000) AL.

AFAIK they begin at 1001, not 1000.

Engine numbers and chassis numbers start at 1001. Body numbers start at 1

Maurice, 54275 is Mountain Blue PVC
253 17340 Mosman Blue. These combinations are for 1954 so the chassis(sub-frame) number should start with "4" so may have had the sub-frame changed at some stage??
