Hi Guys, As good complete second hand heater systems for hktg's seem to be non-existant and aftermarket setups cost $$$'s i'd like to know if i can use some of the heater/aircon parts from a VL in a HK? could i at least use things like the heater/blower and the a/c compressor? There's loads of room under the dash so i'm not too concerened with custom ducting/controls etc, unless it fills the footwells...hehe, but I would think the size of the VL parts wouldn't be a problem. Is there any hope in hell of running the vacuum controls? or would it be far easier to just setup a couple of switches in the dash and use the original ducting system (single open/close footwell control). Is it too hard to fit demister ducting to a non-optioned model and how would i control the floor/demister changeover?
Does anyone (Qute?:) have any info or diagrams of the VL heater and air systems or know which publications would have good info? any help much appreciated :)

Best publication is the factory VK or VL service manual (they use the same box & almost identical controls).
The prob with a VK/VL bos is it is a top-feed for the air, on the LH end of the plenum, and may need serious metal surgery to make it work.

Hi 70ute.
There's not as much room as you think under an HK/T/G dash.
I would continue looking & try & find a factory unit. You will have to recore the heater & fix up the cables etc. no matter what old unit you get.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
