From memory the base HK Monaro had a standard no paint grille, standard HK 5" rims and the GTS wheel covers were optional on all HKs.

whats a hk monaro standard belmont ix?

the base monaro was based on a kingswood, grill had middle 2 bars top and bottom unpainted, rest of bars black. Top and bottom unpainted. unpainted is anodise not chrome

belmont sedan/ute/van/wagon had all bars unpainted but they were still blacked behind the chrome centre bar and on all the vertical bars and behind the Holden badge

There are some NOS side trims for a HK 337 on Ebay at the moment, for the rear quarter between the wheel and the door. Id probably have the equivalent for the doors, but maybe not NOS, possibly also those for the rear of the quarters.

oh noes, i bet T95 is like a mini sized trouble light that uses a 12v globe and has a rather long lead. which means I chucked one out that came with a 186S hk kingswood, and that car also had what must be U46 - a light with STOP written on it mounted under the dash. maybe was a govt car then. 186S/4sp opel and console

what is K69? just an extra key or?

Yes the car you wrecked would have been a Government car with those options.

Not sure what a lot of these look like, but yes Monaros were ordered by departments. Have recently found a GTS 350 painted in NSW Ambulance Beige from the factory, suggesting someone in the NSW ambulance service liked the GTS 350 and ordered one for his/her company car.

You might also want to add L34 to your list of options. I know it wasnt a mainstream option but some examples were built.

Byron, I only listed options for Monaro (0337) not all Monaro options (0737 and 1837), note no delete stripes.

If I was to add the L34 then would also need to add the radius rods and 25 gallon tank option codes.

OK, understand now, although can you be certain that no L34 optioned 337 was built? (nit picking I know, just really good, interesting discussion).
Also, what option code was the boot ornament (that looks like a grille badge sideways)? Ive seen these on an original 337 before. It was a fully loaded car. 307, air, steer, venetian, GTS wheel trims, etc etc. I think it even had the canvas water bottle support on the front bar. It was an extremely early Mako blue car with 14X trim, special order for a dealers floor.

Terry, XT4 will probably be tinted armourplate. Axx series are laminated.

I think things like boot ornaments, water bag holders, weathershields & venetians etc. were available only as dealer accessories & not as factory options. Therefore they had no P.O. number.

Good point about the glass, although I did see one listing which had AO1 for tinted armourplate windscreen & AO2 for a tinted laminated screen. It probably varies with model.

327. Originally the "Bathurst" Monaro was meant to be option L34 on a 737 (like XU-1 on GTR, L34/A9X on SLR, XW8 on HQ 469 etc), but was made a separate model, from what ive heard to "hide" it from GM US. However like in HQ with the 350 sneaking into cars it shouldnt be in (ute, Premier, Kingswood etc) in HK the same thing probably happened. So possibly there might have been an L34 optioned 337. Oddly enough, I think my #2 Pagewood HK 1837 may have started in the planning stages as a 737 as the VIN plate has the PSN stamped normally, but the 81837K bit stamped with the top down stamps, but looks to be stamped over an original stamping. The BODY plate is normal and says 81837KR-00002-H5. It might have been a mistake too, but further information Ive heard recently makes me think otherwise.

The L34 option disappeared well before the first production cars started down the line, at least one protoype was built under L34, but this car would have been sent to Lang Lang for evaluation.

Would an 0337 be fitted wih an L34? good question, maybe one may have been, but there were many other options that were not for Monaro such as XS9, now a car on special order may have recieved this, but it was not a normally available option so I did not list it.

If I was a betting man I would put money on no 0337/0437 being fitted with a 327/350 engine, yes in the HQ some sedans and wagons got the 350, but no 0437 ever got it. Why would GM-H allow the exclusive high performance engine in a lower spec car of the same body? (I doubt any XU1 engines were ever fitted to S and SL Toranas either, or L34 308 engine fitted to an S or SL, even though physically possible)

As for the stamping, it is common for errors, especially when you consider that up until the monaro release all HKs started 80 and all Toranas started 82, so quite easy to see first Brougham or GTS 327 through the type writter, may have got 80 out of habit.

This is true of Brisbane cars, the early ones have 80837 on their VIN.

Early Melbourne cars have 80837 on their body plates, but the 0 is over stamped with a 1.

So are you saying early Sydney ars are the same as early Melbourne cars? If so it looks like the only typist doing their job was Adelaide.

Yes Greg U27 is glovebox light

Its not just a 0 overstamped with 1 Warren, its the whole 81837K bit, followed by a normal H5xxxxx. Just looked again and it does appear that the bit before H5 was never stamped, so ive recently begun to wonder if when the VIN plate PSN was stamped (at Fishermans bend?) 81837 hadnt yet been allocated??
