Hello Mark,
The details you have posted are correct. This component of the identification does not contain a W character in the 14 digit number. The driveline details are also correct (G80 indicating a limited slip diff.). This vehicle is an HJ GTS sedan assembled at the New Zealand plant from CKD kits supplied from the mainland. There should also be a plate with a 17 digit ISOVIN identification on the vehicle but these are often removed for one reason or another.
Hope this is of use.
Hi Ben Are you saying that NZ built Holdens of this era have a 17-digit ISOVIN in addition to the 14-digit item mentioned. Dr Terry |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Dr Terry [/quote] Hello Dr Terry, Id re-phrase the "NZ built" bit to New Zealand delivered, but yes, the number starts with 7A8 and adheres to the GM protocol with various identifiers and a sequence number. I have seen these plates on all cars (imported and local assembled) since HQ series. I am lead to believe that this 17 digit number is the one used for registration but a New Zealand member on here would know a lot more in this regard as I have only a few dozen N.Z. cars recorded. Somewhere, I have pictures of these additional tags and will email you some samples when I can locate them - dont hold your breath though! Later, B.

This might be an original NZ export, the tags and chassis stamp are in the photos to add to the register. http://www.trademe.co.nz...s/auction-272842332.htm

Warren, Just curious in knowing if all exports to NZ as well as other countries (including South Africa.)
Were different colour tail light lens and indicator lens fitted to all vehicles for export? Was this another identification factor or country specific?

The clear lenses are listed as export, but I do not think every territory got them.
