HK do not distinguish between 6cyl and V8 on ID plates. That is a Pagewood built Kingswood ute. That engine number isnt originally from a Holden or GMH vehicle. To be orignal its be something like 30714123K1018 (approximate only and ive used your Mckinnon engine numbers to show you how it looks). The 30714123 (or whatever the 14123 is) is in a larger font to to the K1018.
The only way youd pick it as a V8 would be by the speedo cable and where it enters the cabin, however this can lead you astray as 6cyl 4spd HK utes had "V8" box and hence speedo cable.

ask yourself this; 1/. does it have 2 doors? 2/. does it that a tray behind the seat?

if you answered yes to both questions, then there is a good chance its a utility.

hope this helps....

K1018 just means McKinnon, Canada 18/10/??, ?? probably 1967 or 1968. This is stamped when the engine is completed, and GMH stamped the rest at the 5 x assembly plants. That engine isnt going to be an original GMH engine, so probably an import. It could be anything too. See if you can get the block cast number, behind the passengers side head bewteen the head and the gearbox on the sloped flat part.
