The there's the story of another friend who bought a Feb 10 Hyundai Getz in April 10 with 8km on the clock for $7000. It has no warranty as it was listed as water damaged, water in engine.

His particular one had no water damage whatsoever there was no evidence of water even on the lower radiator support so he did not even have to change the oil. To register it he merely provided the RTA with a blue slip & receipts for oil and filters as "water in engine" is why the car was a repairable write-off in the first place.

He said that some of the cars at the auction had been very wet even in their interiors.
