i have a 99 vt wagon have put 2 1/2 inch exhaust with high flow muffler in back pull up at set of lights car coghs and splutters even on take off i have code 29 come up EGR sensor position fault. some people say replace egr some say it something else i need help....

Not my field of expertise, but Id be looking at the O2 sensor

plug it in a computer and thatll tell you something.just aswell that it happens when you stop ,cant imagine the mechanic carrying a computer keeping up with you for long.lol.Na seriously error code 29 is a give away they will know what to do mate.

i would be looking at th egr valve maybe faulty or need a clean out ie carbon jammed it up remains open and when it should be shut at idle causing it to stall, a scan tool would help as you could watch the feedback change on the data. if you let us know where you are im sure in this forum there is a mechanic from most states. pete.

Carbon in the throttle body butterfly will cause all the faults you have including a o2 sensor fault. Take off the intake tube and douse a rag with petrol open the throttle fully and clean the area where the butterfly rests.
