Guys

I just bought this today. Its a FULLY loaded HJ Premier. Original 108,000kM. Basically a museum piece.
It's an 11/74, delivered 2/75 Pagewood built HJ Premier sedan in Sepia with Chamois/Covert trim. Optioned with:

308;
TH400;
2.78LSD;
T-bar;
Buckets;
Air;
Steer;
Type 4 (GTS) dash;
6" rims;
Power windows;
Power antenna;
Heated rear window;
Vinyl roof;
Rear swaybar (no idea what it is but it was there when delivered by dealer).

Only options it appears to have missed out on are dual exhaust and intermittent wipers (too early for wipers). Totally rust and repair free.

I only have to do a few minor things to bring it back to totally original:

Get a 7043284 or 7025282 1974 coded Rochester rebuilt (has a Holley);
Put on an original air cleaner (have that);
Connect the auto choke back up;
Repaint original or find a NOS PREMIER boot strip (paint rubbed off it a bit);
Find a factory air heater vacuum switch and reconnect the heater core;
Replace the door window outer belts as they are a little cracked;
Get stuck in underneath with some thinners and remove the GMH black someone has sprayed everywhere;
Service everything (oil, water, power steer, transmission, diff oil etc);
Maybe find a NOS oil pump as these do wear out;
Get some original spark lead holders;
Find some mickey mouse original rocker covers (for that original look) or repaint the originals;
Pull the front carpet out and store it and get a new one.

I might fit a HEI dizzy and coil an disguise them with HJ cap and XE coil. She's as good as she looks in the photos. I had only just trailered it home and washed it.

Also needs really good Chamois sunvisors.
Its a perfect candidate for a VN EFI conversion, but ill leave it be as thee engine is in good order. LSD even works, as does aerial, A/C and power windows.

I have actually resisted saying anything up until this point, only because there seems to be no way to molest this one fairly. It is ace as it is.

What a cool colour. Good to see people keep Premiers and Kingswoods in good nick.
Too much Monaro Monaro Monaro.
Byron I would be proud as punch to drive that car. You have a wee ripper

Nice pick up Byron, hardy looks like its been sat in and having such low ks for the age it seems a shame to drive it.
Do you mind if I borrow a pic or two for my shed, dont see many Sepia cars around especially in such great nick.
Also are those hubcaps the same as the HZ Kingswood?

Yes, this one is in similar condition to that one on Muscle Car Sales, even the engine bay looks like it ie good nick but slightly worn. If the owner gets %15k for that HZ it makes this one look like a good deal. I didnt really want a Premier, but if this was even a 253 4 door GTS it would probably pull $25k, and its so well kept and so highly optioned that its probably one of a kind. I figure ill not get much time in the next 5-10 years to finish one of my HKs and I dont have an old car to drive anymore since I sold my 57 Chevy last year. Plus ill take this car to local car shows and the 2010 Monaro Nationals and park it for people to admire. Someday someeone will like it that much that theyll pay good money for it and ill buy something else like a Sandman or GTS. Its also a good museum piece for someone with a HJ LS coupe to copy certain areas during a resto.

The first HJs I have recorded are 9/74 and they went on sale very early October 1974. This is an 11/74 and is in the 9000s in Pagewood HJ chassis numbers. It wasnt completed until 2/75 though like a lot of heavily optioned Prems and LSs of the time. We think it was due to a supply problem with one of the optioned components, probably the LSD centre as this was not a common option. They were on sale until HX was released in 7/76.

wow.. early october eh! dont really see many 74 HJs at all around.
if the HX was released on july76, when would they have started making those first cars? may/june? just as my HJ is an april 76 (the oppsite end of the HJs to yours!) and cant remember having seen one made later. i suppose it would depend on the factories too? i guess not all of them have to start building the new model at once...

Ive got a 4/76 Elizabeth HX Sandman ute recorded, but it was built during the HJ model run as a group of HX brochure/release cars, hence it has HJ trim in it. The first production cars would be probably June build.

Itll be for sale one day. Just want to bring it back to totally original and enjoy it for a while. I just wanted something inexpensive to take to car shows that wouldnt be overshadowed by Monaros and Toranas, like (to me) say a HJ Kingswood 6cyl in similar condition would. Honestly, where it was (at a wreckers) it was possible that if someone offered $500 a piece for the front doors (they are that good) and the owner had a sale for a 308/TH400 that he would have wrecked it out. So its been "rescued" so to speak.
