gday jim, this was discussed on oldholden a while ago

you need a HQ wagon bumper, iirc you have to cut the bumper and add a bit to make it longer, have a search over there its been discussed a few times, ive never really taken much notice as ive no intensions of ever doing it

I always figured they were wagon bumpers. Ive got one that I pulled off a panelvan a couple years ago but no idea what it originally came from.

whoever told you that isnt holding something correctly....they all fit,but to make them fit and look like they should be there and tucked in nicely at the corners they need to be shortened..

I had one on my van from a sedan, I cheated though on install and drilled a hole each side and mounted them on the tailgate stopper brackets looked okay with the black rubber strip on it.

cloudy...thats the most common way to mount them...its a hell of a lot of work to modify brackets to make them fit so the ends dont vibrate..

jim, part numbers are different because of the different styles of bars between the models but they will all fit...right thru to wb statesman..

They look ridiculous too in my opinion. I was looking at a really good HZ Sandman recently with a HQ wagon rear bar. Removing the bar would be my first job, and putting the bumperettes back on.

im with byron as far as looks go....if you wanted the bar to sit neatly on a ute or van then yes they need to be narrowed..this wb van has a narrowed wb statesman bar on it...we had it modified by vinneys in melbourne..
