i have just got a 2001 au falcon 4L there is a tapping noise it sounds like it coming from the top of motor it is there as soon as you start it and when you accellerate the tapping is faster i have 20/50 oil is this the right oil for it. is it the tappets if so how do you take them out do you have to take head off Edited by user 15 years ago

I think AU 4.0l engines run a 10w30 engine oil? Where do you live in regards to climate?

Put the right oil in with a new filter and buy some Nulon that frees sticky lifters. Its about 10 or 12 dollars at super dooper cheap.
