How much of a car do you need to say your car is a certain car?

Warren
you need 3 little tags worth about 10 cents worth of alloy sad really..!

I try not to confuse Genuine and original.A car to me is genuine when the tags match the car.Original means everything on it as it left the factory.
The line has to be drawn somewhere otherwise as soon as you did the cars first oil change people will say its not all original.
Filters, brakes, fluids and balljoints or shocks must be changed over time so i wouldnt say its not original if any of theses were replaced.
Changing everything bar the floor and firewall,IMO,the car is genuine if the tags match but not original and should be priced accordinally.

If ,Never,When. If they ever make a shell id Never put old tags on it and When youre headin down the highway humps n tags dont matter.Let the new stuff compliment the old and not copy it.Is the new stuff made in oz,say no more a tiawanese monaro.or an old chasis resurected using copy parts does it really matter? There will only ever be so many true monaros ,the new shell era may or maynot happen but if it does you better be ready thrill seekers .

there will be ways of telling the repo from original so bring on the new shells i think its no different to making a gts from a base model as long as you dont sell it as a genuine i dont see a problem with it

I know the repro guys out there would love for there to be new shells made up. Who wants to make the wiper motors?
Window regs, outer door handles, bonnet hinges etc etc.
Sure you can knock out the bodies but how do you deal with all the hardware?
I have a pile of really crappy bonnet hinges to give the cause. Mind you these are going to cost a cool $1200 to rebuild.
If these bodies are going to eventuate, the devoted die hards have to get behind it or watch a further decline in their cars public value.
At the end of it this industry needs new investors to be cordially invited into the circle to insure these types of cars survive beyond their/our lives.
Take the AC Cobra for example. Only 33 S/C 427's were ever made.
No one would ever get to enjoy seeing that shape if it was'nt for repro.
Look at our roads now. When did you last see a HKTG Monaro drive past?
I love these cars repro or not. The real cars values are assured because of bloodlines and pedigree.

I would not ask how much of a car you need to say it's a certain car I would say that your mate shelled out the cash for a 327 Monaro in the first place & that is what he finished up with.

Even if he re shelled it completely (especially with a new shell) and destroyed the old shell he still STARTED with a genuine 327 Monaro so that's what he restored.

It's not as if he created one out of thin air is it.

Well that makes sense, at least he is keeping a fantastic shape in circulation for the public to admire. And heaven forbid, admire it as much as we all do and devote a little time, effort and money into what
I consider the best hobby I ever had.
They're as much part of the Australian landscape as a painting by the late great Albert Namatjirra. (hope i got the spelling right)
And like a great painting, it only makes sense when you take a few steps back.
Anyway, Don't hide them, Drive them!
I wish btw they would re-produce the HT Premier wagon as well.
You know, low, wide wheels, ballon tyres (low profile sux)
twin system V8, two tone. getting carried away now.
If only,,,sigh

Can't say that I would've thought the Monaro shells were gunna be made of f/glass though.
Jokes aside, still, the figures do not add up to make it anywhere near viable.

Did anyone here remember Tucker? One man, One vision, One goal!
All it takes is one man to complete the dreams of many.
History knows them as its visionaries.
(ok before you tear me apart, Tucker did go broke in the process)
And is probably not the best example to go by here.
Oh well..:-)

Tucker 'is' a film, based on the 'real' Preston Tuckers' life & building the 1948 Sedan. Not too many made, then the company folded.
Don't forget the DeLorean, shot to fame in 'Back to the Future', was also a small run car builder. Built a lot more, then also failed.
See the pattern?

I am a good friend of Daves', reckon he is part of a breed so unique to these shores, we should bottle it and export (ebay) it to overseas markets.
