Ok - if anyone out there knows who at GMH said it Ok to fit HQs with some gooey black sticky sh*t that goes just behind the air vent near the passenger doors - I was his name, address and first born !

It's good stuff too as it kept the rust intact too !! Argh !! I have patched it, removed most of the black sh*t, anti-rusted it and now I have to wait a few months to get some $$$ to fix it properly.

Any ideas where the leak would be in a HQ ? Premier badge ? A hole towards the rear of the roof ?

Cheers John

Hi VZgen

Yes it does have a vinyl roof, and although not removed its in very good nick (so I thought). There are NO rust dribbles on the outside body work which is what I would have suspected if the roof was bad.

There are no leaks or rust stains in

This is a THEORY but I think I have found the answer to all the HQ rust probs in those rear arch wells.

HQ's have a black pressure relief valve near the rear door. It diamond shaped with louvres. It allows cabin are to flow in and out via the boot. Nif

yet anotehr possibility is the rear window seal has deteriorated and needs replacing. Easy enough to check. Give the screen a half decent whack with your fist and believe it or not, you will probably hear the window "rattle". Off with the mouldings, sl

Hop in the boot with a torch and get a mate to spray a hose over it and see what happens you should be able to see something.

if it ain't broke we can improve it.
