hi, new to the forum, can anyone please giv some ideas on y my crewman all of a sudden decided it only wants to go on three cylinders. a mechanic has shuffled the coils around and replaced the plugs all to no avail. he has also tried another computer after telling me that vz v6s are prone to s***ting computers, no one else has backed this claim, any ideas will be greatly appreciated, thnx

Hi krustee.

VZ V6 engine computers are generally not prone to sh**ting themselves.

Many mechanics who can't diagnose electrical problems often try to repair cars by 'throwing' parts at the problem at your expense. I find that it's best to find out what the problem is before spending big $$$ on parts that aren't necessary & don't fix the issue.

Your problem it probably wiring related. The VZ coil overs each have their own igniter module on board, so each coil requires their own +ve & -ve supply. Because the coils are wired in 2 sets of 3, my guess is that a common earth or +ve supply is missing. Get somebody who knows how to measures voltages etc. to have a good look. If you have access to a factory circuit diagram, it's even easier. Could be a loose earth bolt !!

Thanks for the info. I have also been advised that it may be fuel related due to bad E10 fuel. Do you have an actual workshop and are you able to look at the problem. Check the fuses in the under bonett fuse box, there is a fuse for odd and even cylinders.

thanks guys for the input, im assuming it was fuel related as the prob has cleared up after a couple of hot laps round the block, been advised from a number of people to give up the e10 and only drink ulp or premium
