I have been looking into the old strombergs and would like to comprehend them better, like the X2 setup and what to do and not to do what is and is not.
Now basically we have red motors with BXUV-2 from all motors up to 161 and BXV-2 from 173 up to 202.
Now i take it as B = single downdraft.
X = cross flange as in the main body venturi.
U = 1/8 under size throttle body.
O = 1/8 over size throttle body.
And the number 2 = 1 7/16 throttle valve size??
Now the HQ 173 & 202 has a flange size of 1.44
The 173 has a main venturi of 1.156 and
The 202 has a main venturi of 1.218
The 130 has a main venturi of 1.094
What do the other 149 & 161 venturi have and what does the X2 venturi have i think they are all 1.094 ??
Now when we are on about the X2 i believe they came with
1.094 venturi and a 1.31 throttle body sizes is 161 and 149?
Now when some one wants to put twin strombergs on there motor they have to get this all sorted out right.
Original X2 have X2M stamped on the carbs.
Now i believe for a twin strom setup the best bet is to look for 161 & 149 carbys or would a 173 to 202 be OK????????
When using triple strombergs i thing you use BXOV-1 from the grey motors??
What have people found is the right way to go about with these setups. and what not to do.
