Hello to all

Recently I resprayed the HT with Etch, and then primer filler to hide small imperfections on the panels. After the paint dried I noticed that the beautiful job I had done was not in fact that beautiful, and all the tiny scratch marks that I was trying to cover up still came through. My question is, is there any product that I can apply over the new primer to fill these in?? I have been told that you can't use products like stop putty, as these will peel away when applied in quantities more than stone chip size. I don't own a putty spray gun, so can spray that. The scrathes are not real deep, but I don't want to stuff all the hard work done by top coating it. Could I use any other fine putties out there, or do I have to start again??? The scratches are mainly around the Bog patches, with a few pin holes in the bog as well. I know it's probably dew to the sanding technique or lack of, not fine enough paper/ water, but really need to find a fix so I can top coat and get back on the road. Any help with product or ideas would be good

P.s trying to avoid sanding back the etch and primer, and apply over top.

cheers james

Sand it smooth (which may include more hi-fill primer first) and spray 2-pack primer over the whole car. This will seal it and stop any shrinkage. With acrylic primer and top coat you should really undercoat it and leave it for at least 2-3 weeks to shrin

Usually the scratches you are trying to get rid of will show through after putting primer filler on. It is all depending how deep the initial scratches were, how thin the primer filler was, how much of it was put on, and also the quality of the product.

You can spray hi-fill with a normal gun. It's pretty cheap for a 4L tin from any paint shop or even Super Cheap Auto. I ALWAYS use 2-pack primer as stated above, as the last thing I do after getting the whole car straight and smooth. Even if you manage to

A new cheap putty gun should only cost about $40. Your paint supplier should have them.

Are their any products on the market that behave the same way as standard bog, but have much finer characteristics and used for fine work, like the scrathes of have discussed earlier???

There is a product called 'fine filler' It is mixed like body filler and is used to fill scratches, chips and small dents like hailstone dents. Made by many different manufacturers. I personally prefer Cams brand fine filler. It can be used on top of pain
