Hi just wondering if anyone can assit me. We fitted new front brake pads and they are working fine however i have a constant dash display giving me a warning about the brake pads (basically telling me they still need replacing) local dealership cannot give me an answer as they told me they do not know enough about this model. Also we are DESPERATLEY chasing a workshop manual for this car! Cannot get hold of one anywhere and no one seems to have any idea where to start. Being a European version i have tried overseas but no luck. Can get a standard astra manual but not turbo version.
Many Thanks Larissa =)

Hi Larissa,I cant help with the brakes(sounds like computer reboot to me).If you cant get the turbo model book at all,get the same non turbo version as alot of your car will be the same, including your brakes etc.

mate have seen some astras with a plate that clips to the inside front pad that has a wire going to a wear indicator that when it comes into contact with the rotor triggers the brake pad light to come on the dash. you have to un plug it when you change front pads, if the pads are worn to nearly bear metal it will wear the the wire end away. if this has happened then it could be earthing on somthing

also not all models of astra have the same brake setup they use different rotors pads and calipers

Have you tried searching eBay UK or similar for a Vauxhall Astra workshop manual?

They might state that they only post to the UK but some sellers are kind enough to post to Australia if you ask them nicely before bidding and toss a couple of extra pounds in to cover the Paypal fees on the postage which is not so cheap from the UK at times.

Vandals and graffiti "artists" do everyone a favour and target parking meters and fixed speed cameras only.
