I am trying to find out what model holden do head Part No. 9936122 are off. They came off a 308 engine No. prefix QT cast date 77, the heads have cast date's 20 D 7 & 24 S 7. The information that I have read indicates that they are off a VB model but the cast date of 77 seems a bit early for a VB. Appreciate if someone could advise what model holden do the heads come off HX, HZ or VB? Thanks Edited by user Sunday, 28 November 2010 8:56:53 PM(UTC)

Casting number 9936122 are ADR27A heads off an 4.2 or 5.0 V8 as used in LX (7/76 onwards), HX, HZ & VB. They can be identified by their U-shaped EGR port.

Thanks for the reply Dr Terry.
I was a litle confused when I read the book "How to build a Hotrod Holden V8" the cylinder head Part No listed casting No. 9936122 as fitted to the holden VB model, obviously a misprint.

Re-checked the head date codes and 24 S 7 is actually 24 E 7. would this make the heads of a HX Model? Thanks Edited by user Sunday, 28 November 2010 8:25:05 PM(UTC)

Yes, which means he said they are VB heads and the info threespeed quotes is not a misprint as stated. 24E7 will be HX or LX, or possibly very early HZ (but unlikely). _______________________________________________________ If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords? |

Threespeeds won't be VB, but the casting number is VB.
HX or LX as as above.

Casting date says they are not VB they are earlier despite part number so why would you agree with VB with an obvious earlier cast date? Doesn`t the cast date depict the model year it was fitted to.

Easy, because ALL red ADR27A heads are identical.
