Guys, I've just removed the old trimatic cross member from my HQ tonner and went to put in the turbo cross member and it is somewhat longer. Was there a difference between the sedan/ute cross members? also i have my turbo tailshaft and it is about 6 inches shorter then the trimatic tailshaft, is this correct for the One tonner or does it look like i have a sedan tailshaft?

the crossmember needs to be cut to width(1-2 inches evenly from both sides)then re-drilled.

tail shaft should be longer I think you have a sedan or van T400 shaft.

Cheers Jim, i cut the crossmember to fit, all good now. As for the tail shaft it is sounding like i have the wrong one, will find out for sure tomorrow when i drop the motor and box in.

3 different lengths in wheelbases...sedan..wagon,van,ute,statesman...1 tonner...1 tonner is around six inches longer in the wheelbase from wagon etc so tailshaft is longer..t400 tailshaft is also shorter than trimatic...you can get away with using a v8 tri or 4 speed 1 ton tailshafy but the t400 yoke will have no traveling room at the extension housing and will crack the bellhousing if you hit large bumps or put a heavy load in...
