I have decided to finally start working on my monaro project so before i spend a heap of money and effort i have contacted RTA to check if there are any "write off" notices against the vehicle, and also revs to see if there are any "stolen" notices against the vehicle but they have no info on either, is there any other checks i should do before i start?
also number is 80337kh-00717 - h5 is there any way i can find out when it was built or its previous rego number?

The number stamped into the firewall is the number to check and if you have the engine number it had when last registered that would be a bonus. HK's were and still are registered using the firewall stamp number and the engine number only.
Check the date stamp on the steering box and if you can still see it there will be a date code stencilled on the top end of the steering column where it sticks out of the firewall.
