hello to all , have a ht prem 186 dual fuel and when running on petrol it appeares to have flat spot . Starts very well on petrol allways and idles nicely and accelleration is good . Does start very well on gas but idles a little rough . From standstill ( petrol ) hit the right foot and she will stall but take off gently its ok . So far i hav checked the carby and it is not loose and put in a new air filter and i was thinking of replacing the needle and seat . It was a reco from about 4yrs ago and i like to enjoy the best of both worlds and run both fuels well . Any ideas

The most likly cause of your flat spot will be the accelerator plunger in the carby. You need to remove the top of the carby and spread the skirt of the plunger and reassemble it. This plunger gives the engine an extra shot of fuel as you accelerate. Whilst leaking manifold gaskets and needle & seat may cause the same symptom there will be other problems that will exhibit. eg poor idle quality hard starting etc.

cant get hold of a needle and seat till tommorow . Went to bursons , super cheap , and finally the second repco outlet is going to order it in .

Dr is, on the money, check out the accelerator pump plunger. They are prone to damage from E10 type fuels.

Greetings, Also consider that when on gas the pump plunger is operating in a dry environment and will wear more rapidly than when in a liquid environment as when running on petrol other than an ethanol blend.

Thanks for all the help guys . After waiting 2 days for the needle and seat to get from one repco to the other and eventually putting it in it ran better but still with the flat spot so I ended up getting a carby kit and it runs very well so obviously the new plunger did the trick . It took a while for me and a mate to get the mixture correct where it was not too rich or too lean though but the end result is awesome . Not much to the carby kit so it is something else i can now do on my own ..........cheers .
