Are you losing brake fluid?
White smoke can be caused by burning brake fluid being sucked into the inlet manifold from the brake booster if the master cylinder is leaking into the booster.

E Series head gasket problems normally show up with an inexplicable loss of coolant and/or rough running on startup caused by coolant in the cylinders. FWIW coolant can burn with white smoke but you would be losing a fair amount to do that I would think.

Auto trans & power steering oil also creates white smoke. When the modulator in a trimatic fails, it's a perfect path for manifold vacuum to suck the oil out of the gearbox & into the inlet manifold.
Is there anything similar in one of these Fords that could allow gearbox oil to be drawn into the manifold?
You haven't had some clown connect the gearbox breather tube up to a vacuum line have you? |
Cheers,

Good points Mick but no the EF does not have anything that could do that. Their power steering high pressure hose runs parallel to the exhaust manifold. Guess what happens when that hose splits? I've had it happen causing copious amounts of smoke to come from under the bonnet.
