Gday guys my daughter has a 1998 VT V6 auto commy that has developed a miss on medium to hard acceleration. it does not feel as though it is starving for fuel in anyway (but could be wrong) feels more like electricals breaking down. Have just replaced the coil pack form a VS that was running ok, the coil pack on the VT died when the boy friend hosed it. Swappped over the leads and plugs from the VS chasing the problem which where all running ok in the VS (both ecotec's 1997 VS 1998 VT). Any suggestions? Could the coil pack have died again? If so is there a reson for this? would the crank angle sesnsor cause this? Any help here would be appriciated. Cheers Barry

had a friend who had problems with the coil pack he changed it twice before he got one that was good could be your problem might have damaged the one from the vs when you removed it try putting it back on the vs see if it runs ok then you know its something else on the car water and electrics dont mix well

could be a crook lead, even though it ran ok on the other car,one may have been damaged internally while removing, coil packs can break down individually I had this on my VT also a hairline crack on a spark plug will cause missing, If a plug gets dropped you may not see the the crack in the porcelan it caught me out once.

Thanks for the help I went for the coil pack again as we got a second hand one to replace the one on the VS, this cured the problem straight up, so have to buy another one again. Is there a way of checking the coil pack at all? The reason I ask is I have two packs here that have 4 out of 6 good coils or am I just wasting my time??
cheers Barry

There is a way my mechanic showed me , take the leads off one pack and start the car( DO Not touch the leads while its running) have a look at the spark going across if its strong and not trying to arc else where it should be ok, after you have had a quick look turn it off put the leads back on and repeat for the other coil packs only do one at the time, and Dont touch while running !
A weak spark can indicate a problem , a strong consistant spark is what you want.
