I thought it was an offence to remove tags regardless of painting or not.
With cameras/videos in everything these days,record your vehicle in the presence of the painter for proof.

Definately a newbie, couldn't even get my reply correct.
Jan, definately try GMH. They used a "Car Control Ledger", which matches the "serial number (chassis / bodynumber)" and engine numbers. I recieved one page which has around 30 81837's listed, when I got mine, my car among them. The car control ledger gives the following information. G.M factory invoice number, X.C.O. No. Recieving date Date produced, serial number (chasis), Motor No. Colour, Special equipment, Distributors name, date of dispatch, Key Nos and remarks.
This is also a reason I feel the tags are worth bugger-all to anybody except the original car with the matching chasis / body number.
Tag swapping doesn't work. Keep trying GMH for a copy of the Model 81837 "Car Control Ledger"
