VT "s" series had a front collision and after repairs were done the air bag light remains on. Electrician used a tech 2 diagnostic machine but still cannot find the fault. It was only a minor collision requiring radiator,grille and bumper. Any help appreciated. AL.

me thinks get another electrican?????? you can have the best equipment in the world i.e tech 2 and still be well u know...

we have the same problem in the WH, idiots at a tyre place with BOB in the name did a wheel alignment & when the S/wheel was re aligned they forgot to plug back in the airbag before starting the car, the warning light & alarm go's off on start up & it's been to 2 dealers & a private sparkie, neither have been able to resolve the issue, even with replacing the clock??
were trading it soon & would like to fix the issue before hand...
any advice will be greatfully excepted...

I agree, get a second opinion, but the fault itself may not be related to the crash & could be located in another ECU on the same CAN-BUS.

Try & find someone who is familiar with VT Commodores & not just guessing at your expense.

Any wheel aligner who removes the airbag to 're-align' the steering wheel doesn't know what he is doing.

I'd check the wiring going from the front impact sensors and work your way back to the nearest connector
It's possible that a wire was cut/crushed in the impact

agree with terry, wheel alignment the steering wheel should not be touched.

Greetings, This post should be linked to the one on the general discussion forum about steering wheels where a bush mechanic is giving lessons on how to make a car very dangerous. Dr Terry is someone who should be listened to.

I am sure if the "bush mechanic's" procedure was so dangerous Dr Terry would have read it and removed it, or asked him to do so, in a week. After all he has posted back to so many other responses, he must have read this one.

Yes, I think that git's response was a little savage, even if meant to help.

Disarming & removing airbags is an everyday occurrence in most professional workshops, but if done wrongly can lead to catastrophe.

I think that Warren's response was valid, as long as gmholdenman took care in carrying out the job.

From my point of view I like git, think that this type of job should be left to the pros.
