hi guys i have a hg 355..pavtec motor ute...it sufferes a massive amount of crank case pressure causing rear main to leak..It carvuretted on a harrop manifold.. it has two performance alloy rocker covers with two dash 8 fittings facing rearwards to go into catch can.. i have a idea of a pcv valve in the rear but will it suck tooo much oil..all assistance be a help..maybee a fitting on the energy sump and a breather???

so does your catch can vent to the atmosphere or to the manifold? if its to the manifold as i suspect then that sound like your problem to me

the catch can if properelly designed should seperate the oil from the air and not cause any problems for your motor

i thought maybe a breather off side sump mounted up on firewall?

What makes you think that a "massive amount of crank case pressure" causes the rear mains to leak. I have 2 small blocks, both have leaky rear mains.

well it blew heaps o oil out the side dash tubes when running... then we restricted the catch can tubes to dash 8 and it seems to be worse so this tells me that there is pressure???
motor is 1200k old

does it push the dipstick out due this pressure issue?

Id be doing a leakdown test to isolate potential issues, venting to a catch can with minimum -8 hose should be fine.

I would be giving it a compression test, may have a broken piston land or ring
