Hey rares, i was wondering when the glovebox strip for HK GTS Premier & Brougham will be available as a seperate item or in a kit with the rest of it? It seems like rares only made part of the set available to restorers. So how long are restorers supposed to use secondhand woodgrain?
While i'm here, when are you going to finish off the HK HT HG glovebox liners? They've been incomplete for a few years now. I'm waiting for you to make one that fits.

Hi Simon
If you are talking just the Blackwood insert without the plastic chrome base/ surround then we can do it and will do it . If however you are talking the chrome base/ surround as well then that is a bit different as it would require substantial tooling to be made and based on the sales of the inserts then this may not be viable I would be interested to know what you think.
As for the glove box insert if they are incorrect or incomplete please advise how and we will endeavour to fix them and thanks for pointing out the problem with the glove boxes I welcome your feedback you can email me anytime [email protected].

I find it hard to believe they never get returned and that it hasnt been brought to your attention as a quality issue before now.

I'll tell you exactly every modification required, so that they are that good, no-one will need bother hunting down an original again. What do I get for helping? Some free HG HT grille emblem inserts? I think they are nice.

They are 75% there. As a dismantler of this model exclusively, I have found that 7-8 out of 10 are not really suitable resellers for a resto job whether it be concours or neat, clean freshened up refurishment of the car. Dirty Davo as a dismantler of this model exclusively would you agree with that ratio?

i think your being a bit generous there simon

if they cant accurately research their products b4 releasing to public, why should we help them for nothing??

after all, if they got it right, our original parts would be worthless aye??

Could you please email me on [email protected] or call me on (03)9305 4000 as we would appreciate your input on this matter. We are happy to reimburse you in the form of some badges or maybe some other items in return for the assistance you provide. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Les, thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'd prefer to do it on here for all to see if that's alright. I will get some photos up of a comparison in the original and the reproduction.

An original glovebox liner can be fitted in 1 minute with the four attaching screws in hand. I was wondering if possible that you have a go at fitting one of your own into an HK HT HG, and tell me how long it took you and all the problems you encountered, and then we'll work it from there.

Regards Simon.

Hi Simon

We test fitted one to a HK mid last week and we are aware of the issues with our current stock, we have already sent a staff member to the manufacturer here in melbourne with both a modified repro and a great condition original who has seen the area's personally that need attention and they will be getting a work over probably as we speak, all stock has been removed from sale aswell

Thanks for letting us know

OK, no worries. In case you were'nt already aware, ALL HK HT HG Holdens, regardless of model, had a whole in the side for the glovebox light.

To give everyone an update on this, I was sent a modified prototype several weeks ago. It was a big improvement from the existing item. It had the hole for the glovebox light, in which I test fitted one and it was fine. It also had the metal mounting clips attached to the top outer mounting holes as per the original too. When I test fitted it all but one of the three attaching holes lined up with the body. I notified the person I was dealing with of the minor alteration required.

Looking forward to only spending a couple of minute installing one of these now instead of half an hour.

Some time ago there was talk of forum members making these wood grain parts , so we went onto other things and left it to them, I do not believe we will look at these items in the near future except for what we already have .
