I need some help.
I have a HQ ute I am making into a Sandman replica.
When the HQ Sandman came out, what GTS guards did they come out with?
Was it the flute style or the big square looking holes?
I don't want to buy the wrong guards.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thats what I thought, but I have seen a few photo's with the twin headlight front end and the square holes and then I started to doubt myself.
Do you know if the front end had the double headlight or single.
I thought it was the single headlights.

single,the whole front is like a HQ monaro(or the same as my post in members cars,HQ windowless paint finished). |

I am new to all of this. I didn't know you can check out members cars.
I have seen a couple of Sandmans and they have the premier front. I honestly don't know why someone would modify a classic.
I just got to work out how to upload some pictures for you guys.

Probably weren't sandmans, or were modified very early on. I put a prem front on my HK monaro in 83 when they were cheap (cost me $150). as for the photos.... put them into a photobucket account or similar photo storage web site. hover over the pic and you will get several links. copy the "IMG code" link (in photobucket) Paste the code here and it will look like this: [IMG http://i1237.photobucket...F/1973HQSANDMANUTE1.jpg /IMG] I have removed some brackets after the [IMG and before the /IMG] so that the code dosent work so you can see what your reply will look like. The blue text is the copied web site. You can use the FORMAT insert image icon above also. When I got some time this week, I will upload for you all.
I am pretty happy, I picked up a genuine GTS Steering wheel in pretty good condition for $130 the other day.
Now I am looking for a dash pad and the guards.

HZ Sandman had twin headlight front standard. The mirrors on that HQ above are incorrect for HQ and HJ. HX had black GTS as above ute has, HZ had colour coded GTS mirrors.
Have a look on my sandman.com.au for all the info you need.

HQ is identical to HJ in stripe treatment if stripes were fitted. |

HQ Sandman...If your doing a "replica"..and you want the rear
"sandman" on there just spray 2 tailgates whilst your building
1 factory and the 1 you like...no set in concrete rules..my opinion.

Thanks guys.
I haven't got the stripes as yet. Was going to do it when it is ready for paint. Probably rare spares or something. I found some stripes on ebay a little while back but they were white. I wanted black or blue.
