Is there a difference? Is the 186s head a breed of its own?

Greetings, The bare castings are the same and have the same casting number. After that they are very different in the areas of valve springs and the exhaust valves fitted.

The 186 S motor has only a bit stronger valve springs and that's all and the valves are the same as std.

Exhaust valves are different, but the originals may not be there anymore anyway. Same with springs. As long as you have the right cast number head I wouldn't bother looking any further.
