Hi Folks, I'm talking about the typical V8 Quadrajet aircleaner but when they started being fitted with the side-mounted vacuum temp sensor that ran to the snorkel valve. I know the early 4.2/5.0 VC and WB blue motors seemed to have them but would you find them on anything earlier? You can see it on the left of each of these restored pieces, 1977 seemed to be when they started using this setup on US GM vehicles I've had as new restrictions on emissions were added. I don't have any of my old manuals from when I had HJ and HZ GTS to see if any mention of it being phased in that early like late-red motors. thanks for any info, Ben Edited by user Tuesday, 19 June 2012 5:10:46 AM(UTC)

The small vacuum valve you are talking about (on the top left of each air cleaner in the photo) was introduced for the Blue motor V8s in VC & WB as part of ADR27B compliance.
The vacuum flap itself (on the snorkel) with the intake facing 3 o'clock was introduced in late HQ (around Sept 73) for ADR27.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |
