Just curious apart from the physical difference and the bolting up issue, could you bolt up for say a vn,vs,vr auto trans to an old 253,(with an adaptor or drilling the block to slove the mating issue)any electrical issue that would stop it working, just running an idea through the old noggen, any info or input would be good. cheers |

Yes if you get the 253 modded to TH pattern it will bolt straight up, use the original red motor starter and the flex plate off the VN-VS. A TH350 crossmember slightly modded, shortened tailshaft and a HQ-HZ TH400/350 speedo cable will connect it up. If you use a VN-VP box all you need to get it working is a cable kickdown - either buy an aftermarket setup to suit TH350 or use an original HZ-WB TH350 kickdown attachment. You'll need an aftermarket torque converter lockup to complete the puzzle. HQ-HZ TH400 T-bar will operate the 4spd, just won't show all 4 x gears.

Correct. Like trying to fit a 6cyl trimatic behind a V8. Except harder, as you can actually do the trimatic thing by changing pumps and bellhousings, but you can't do this with a 4L60. |
