I recently did a temporary diff centre swap on a 308/Glide HT, the 2.78 open centre that came out had a heavier casting requiring two longer mounting bolts (rather than the normal studs) towards the bottom and had a wider yoke than the 3.36 that went in.

Is this a V8 Banjo, or are the higher speed Banjos all beefed up for the extra torque?

Both 2.78:1 & 3.08:1 banjo diffs had the 2 long bolts. My understanding is the casting was larger to accommodate the larger crown wheel, necessitating the 2 long bolt at the bottom rather than the 1 used with all other ratios.
The wider yoke indicates a V8 application.

As above, but a wider yoke does not necessarily mean it is a V8 diff, but in this case it will as it was a 2.78:1. All HK with 3.08 banjo got the larger rear uni regardless of engine size.

Does not have a larger crown wheel.
Pinion may be in a different position due to ratio's used.
