I inspected a 53 Holden ute yesterday and the engine number which started with 00 and ended with the letter P would this have been a police replacement number ?

It would have to be. It starts with the number of how many were issued that year then the year me thinks. 00183 would be the first one issued in 1983 like.

I thought they started with the State, then the year then a sequential number then P, example V990020P meaning Victoria, 1999, 20th number issued, P for Police. |

yes start with v etc but this one does not say so. as we do not know the numbers but cloudy will work it out.

No letter in front 06****P its a grey motor in a 53 FX (just re checked its not 00), the car was restored out of a few cars put together , nice job but dissapointing for the new owner when I checked the chassis plate and it read as a 1954 but the body was assembled in Aug 53. So the Y frame is FJ.
