That HT van will be a corker Simon. There were a few made but not many around today. Premier sounds nice.

HG ordering procedure says power windows were only on 811, 812 or 814. Not available on Belmont or Kingswood. There is always the special instructions section of the order form though, so whilst normal plebs like us couldn't order it someone special may have been able to.

You guys sure know your cars. I mentioned a light green 1971 Hg van with a factory saginaw 253 on another thread a while back thats needs a fair amount work. It has black trim with buckets and console. It now has a HQ block and needs the usual rust work due to sitting unused outside for the last 20 yrs, but is very strait. I have know this car since mid 70's. I may have an opportunity to buy it but am unsure of its value. Any ideas?

Greetings, Your car is as it presents correct in all details. The clue is in the picture of gear lever that nobody else has noticed. HKs made with Opel gearbox between March and June 1968 used the HR lever setup for obvious reasons. This car will also have the HR hole in the floor as well which you will have found when you looked underneath.

The Opel was available in HG without a console as per the brochure. What it doesn't say is that this was only with a bench seat. From June 1968 ALL cars with Opel and bucket seats had the console shift type setup. No ifs or buts about it.

Yes, that sounds about right, I don't believe I've ever seen an Opel (flat stick shifter) in an HT or HG bucket seat car.

The lever is a bit different to the HR though. The shifter is mounted on the rear of the gearbox (like HR & LC), but the stick is 'flat' like an Impala (aftermarket) shifter. The HR's stick was made of round bar.

Greetings Dr. Terry, The same HR lever (round profile) was used in the HKs during this limited time. That was the clue in the picture of the Premier in question. The rectangular profile lever was used in early HK and then again after June 1968 in bench seat only cars. When the separator and floor shift were fitted together the round lever was used. Funny thing is that this is correct in the parts book which is usually not right in tricky changes stuff.

I was discussing this exact thing yesterday. Early HK had the shifer as shown in the brochure of the red kingswood with XS6 seats, with the cast alloy looking box around it. 3/68 to around 6/68 had the round HR shifter, probably to clear the seat separator which it had at the time. After that they were all console shift with the divorced shifter or becnh seat with the bench seat shifter.

The shifter on the HK is round, approxiamately 5/8"dia.

M21 and M22 HK-HG are round, it is the M20 ones that vary in HK.

I was wondering if anyone can give me information in regards to the shift lever for the Saginaw four speed in a HT Commercial. I notice that there is a unique part number for it and the boot and retainer. This van I am getting has fixed buckets with no console and I was wondering what the base of the shifter should look like. The gearbox is removed from the vehicle at the moment but the car checks out as a 80270 4 speed. Any reference photos would be great.

Thanks Warren but that order form is for passenger and not commercial. It actually contradicts the car I've bought. Although that is for HG and the van I've bought is HT.

Commercials were a fair bit different in the options you could order. I have a HG commercial one, but not a HT. You really want a HT one.
