I have a HSV Signature Coupe VZ. Can anyone advise why a Vehicle having a VZ Carline/series displays a VX Chassis number?

X is Calais luxury level I think which is what a CV8 is. My V2 has the same from memory. I don't think V2 or VZ have a chassis number anyway, they have a VIN.

Thanks HK1837

Just out of interest I have a HG81837 and you will understand my interest is authenticity.

But back to the topic, the 4th and 5th letters of the Carline/series Chassis Vin displayed under the window shows VX but all observable part numbers on the vehicle including owners handbook shows VZ. The contract for sale also quotes the Vin with VZ. HSV hasn't been able to give an explanation.
According to Spare parts there is both a VZ and VX Vin shell.
Do you know what type of car a VZ Vin should belong to?

PM Commodorenut, he'll know off thee top of his head re CV8 VIN numbers.

Is your HG 1837 a manual or auto? One of the last lot with higher performance McKinnon engines or an earlier one with a Tonnawanda engine?

Thanks Warren

My Vin shows 6G1VX14U.
According to the GM 2006 Passenger Car VIN system the 4th and 5th "VX" letters for the carline series denotes a Chasis for a Pontiac GTO which is a different carline series from the HSV VZ Signature series.

Can you shed anymore light on that point?

I posted up what the Monaro starts with, I stop in December 05, and the signiture is built after this time.

A quick check on the net shows that the Signiture cars have the new sequence that started with L8 and they are VX as you said. Why Holden went from L5 to L8 is not known or why they changed to V instead of Z.

I am still trying to find why Holden used 5 in the VIN in cars built between 1/9/05 and 1/1/06, normlly Holden would use a 6 for the year here, they did on export cars but not domestic. Then they used 7 on VEs built between 1/9/06 and 1/1/07, but VZs built in this time use 6 for the year. Then they used 6 for the year on VZs built in 2007.
