hi ,the date code letters in the numbers
are they starting at A = January ect ect
as per this post ...
"" The date code on the box is day month & year, eg 12D9 means 12/4/69, you will have to check the archives to get all the codes. That date will be the day or very close to the assembly date.""
and is it the same for chev gm ,

yes that is correct except that the letter 'I' is skipped (not used so as to avoid confusion with the number '1').
Don't think the steering box date is always that close to the build date - it is more common for there to be a gap of 4 to 6 weeks approx

GM can be different too, I have found I used in 1960's castings, although by the time the SBC's were used in HK I believe the use of I was gone.
Squeak is right re gaps to build date, but it can be close as well. Pre GTS when 16.7's were rare there can be big gaps in these from box date to vehicle assembly date. |

thanks guys , i know what you mean about letter 1 and i
i just order and got private plates in WA hk8i837 , hk81837 was long gone of course and i would have thought the i would have been gone too
as on number plates here there is no dot on top of the i , so from 10 feet both look the same ,,,

I have HK-1837 which means literally: HK GTS327 Coupe. HK81837 means HK Holden GTS327 Coupe. Same same really! |
