G'day all there are i think 5 to 6 coloured speedo drive gears red, blue, white, pink?,green? nylon gears that are for the different ratios for the diff gears to get the right speed for the guage, who would know which ones would be for which ratio as my repair manual dosn't have that info.

There are 7 different driven gears & at least 3 different drive gears (although the 8 tooth is used most of the time), so there are 21+ possible combinations.

The best way to do it is run what you have now & then check how far out your speedo is. Each tooth on the driven gear is worth 5%. So if you are out by 10% change your gear by 2 teeth.

which model car what size engine what diff ratio makes all a difference to what colour you use i think most spare parts manuals have a list for different ratio combinations which came from the factory .if its not a standard combo revert back to what dr terry said
why drink & drive when you can drift & slide

The reason that I've suggested my method is that, the tables in the various manuals assume factory size tyres. Most cars these days run aftermarket wheels with 70 or 60 series tyres which throw the gearing calculations out the door. Plus many combos aren't allowed for in the tables.

Unless you've used a combo that's way out, just use my method. I've found it's the simplest, quickest & cheapest.
