Hello All,

Could anyone help me with a production date for a HK front cross member marked 4D9A

Any help appreciated,

I think A means afternoon shift from memory. I'm pretty sure it does on casting dates. Doesn't really matter anyway, the important stuff is spot on!

Early April 1969 would still be HK (only just) would it not ?

yeah it would Dr Terry. I just wonder is the change of bushings between the HK T crossmembers exactly on the model change or would HK late production have the HT type bushings? What bushings has PAW327? ....and I have just seen PIT STOP book store and truly I must bow to the High Lord of information :)

I'm pretty sure they changed the bushes exactly on the model change point. Production scheduling would make sure that the required number would be built for the end of model. Any excess would be sold thru spare parts for collision repairs.

The only exceptions would be prototypes or test mules. which are rarely sold to the general public in any case.

The early HT's had the HK geometry though, although they had the rubber bushes. Not long into HT they raised the upper control arm mounting points.
