Can't help with a rebuilder, it mught be worth looking at scourcing a new one from the USA.
You'll find genuine ones & also alternatives. I'm assuming you're after the big Harrsion/Frigidaire compressor. |

You can buy them in Oz. Here's a link to a company in Bundaberg who sells them (if they're not still flooded out). I have bought a few things from these guys. They're good to deal with and they just ship them down to you. http://speedyairspares.c.../catalog/Holden-7-1.html

Heres a link to the mob in the US I've used. http://www.opgi.com/prod...&chapterid=1&KeyWord=ac compressor&SortBy=6&p=2 There's plenty of other parts vendors- Rock Auto, Ground Up, Year one, etc. Might be worth looking here, a Chevelle forum. http://www.chevelles.com...3ce4283f3bf6d31c02&f=32
There's 3 compresors listed at OPGI. On the seal question, I don't know what refrigerant they're meant to use. There is a refrigerant called FR-12 which is a "drop in" replacement for R-12. Vehicle model? I'd suggest a GM 'A" body ( Chevrolet Malibu/Pontiac Tempest/ Olds Cutlass/ Buick Skylark) from 1970-72. |

I bought a replacement Frigidaire for my HJ a number of years ago and had the system filled with a halfway refrigerant. It worked but not really the best. Unless you have a concourse car, go for one of the more efficient rotary compressors. Smaller and more effective.
