Anyone know of a high temperature spark plug boot or a material that can go over existing ones. I've seen the usual fibreglass sheaths and I see Accell do a ceramic boot. However the Accell one is not easily available and I don't think the fibreglass sheathing will last. This boot is already arcing as you can see and I'm sure the others won't last much longer. There is only about 5mm between the boot and the exhaust on cylinders 1 and 3. The others are a lot further but you never know..

head down to your local small airport and ask where you can buy some spark plug covers off small aircraft.
these are a complete metal sheath that covers the spark plug completely, designed to be proof against moisture arcing etc., also they cater for a spark plug that can be dismantled for cleaning and reassembled with different electrodes etc so can be designed to suit your motor.
I have not seen them for some years as i have been out of the industry but there must be something similar available.
not sure if they could be adapted to cars but worth looking at.

Great, thanks for that. I do visit a guy at Bankstown Airport quite regularly and his store is an Alladins Cave of neat little bits and pieces. I'll head over there sooner rather than later.

The accel ceramic boots will fix you're problem. I had a rubber boot 1mm away for a header pipe. I put 2 fiberglass socks over it, would still go hard in the corner and crack. Would take about a year to do that.
So one day I was searching on eBay, accel 90 degree ceramic kit came up for like $90 in the US. I asked the guy why so cheap, he said over stock. Got the kit, ratcheting crimper and shipping for $150.
The next problem I had was I thourght the ceramic boots might be to big but it fitted on the problem spark plug.
I also fitted a heat sock over the boot to, but not the fiberglass type. A company called DEI make a sock called protect-a-boot titanium. Its made of lava rock fibers and woven together. It's the best heat sock I have used. It hasn't gone hard, hadn't gone thin on the heat affected zone, hasn't dis colored like the colored fiberglass ones do and it lasted for over a year now.
The accel ceramic kits are on eBay from the US for about $120-$150 but well worth the investment. The kit comes with the ceramic boot already done on one end, you just got to cut the wire to length, side boot on and crimp the terminal on.

Brilliant, I have considered both the ceramic boots and the titanium/lava sleeves. I will be going to Eagle on monday to get the lava covers. I managed to reroute the leads and I've got an extra 3 mm of clearance so I reckon the lava sleeves will do. Thanks heaps....

So if you have 5 +3 mm gap the titanium sock will do the job fine. I think there rated at 1200f direct contact with header pipes.
Accel also sell ceramic wire kit as one, there about $25 on amazon.
