Why is the paint on the bumpers so different on the VE commodore on and others. The VZ paint is not as noticeable on the plastic bumpers to the body colour.

Lots of VE bits are made overseas. Maybe they are coloured when they get here? |

Bumpers were taken back in-house for the VE, but are painted in a different area to the body.
I blame today's paints, along with cost-cutting & efficiency improvement requirements - they are applied so thin, that the same paint can look like 10 different shades when sprayed on 10 different surfaces. |

...what you may find is that the steel body is baked and the plastics also at the same temperature...which to me can lead to this problem manifesting itself, whereby a difference in the paint match can occur due to a dissimilar subsurface....
...i've noted with abject dismay at the profound paint colour differences -re body to bumpers on the VE and firmly believe that the bumpers should be ''air cured'' rather than baked...(if indeed they are baked at all)
...ps .. i am a qualified painter with just a thought on this subject.... and i'm happy to be corrected....cheers fellas

I just had my VE SV6 in the panel shop where they resprayed the front bumper and replaced the back bumper. It is silver in colour. Although it now looks like I just got it off the showroom floor, the bumpers still don't match to the rest of the car. I nearly bought the light green one and was more noticeable then the silver. I think it depends on the colour also on how bad a mismatch it is.
