This Hk Brougham has high back front and rear seats. I thought it was only HT that got them. Is this HK an original or bitza? Maybe HT seats?

I think it's right for the bro HK. did not see that it was the HG type of high backed seats at all. as this one has low front seats in it.

I thought HK got low back, HT High back and HG back to low back front seat? This HK has high back seats as on HT. Maybe very late HK's got high back?

The seats are from a HT Brougham but it has HK door trims

I thought the HT bro got high front seats. they look like HK low. same hight as the premier were.

Greetings, This car is an HK with HT seating installed. HK was blonde ivory and HT/G was sandalwood. The two 18 trims are slightly different in colour but very different in material design/pattern. This car is an 1162-18M trim car.

The front seats in that HK are the "high back' type. It's not immediately obvious but the front-on shot shows them best.

Castellan, as far as I know only the HT got high front seat. Read somewhere customers complained about rear visibility so reverted to low front seat for the HG.

So that's why i always had little respect for the brougham and though my HG premier was better than the big rear bro.
So the rear seat in the HG bro is much sort of like the HK prem with 5 buttons with lines running vertically like and for the 'B' in the emblem standing for brougham and different material design, the prem must get a 'P' emblem.
The HT bro gets 6 buttons and 4 horizontal pillows.
The HG BRO gets 2 buttons and 4 square pillows somthing like HT prem ?
I never remember seeing a HT brougham inside back in them days if i did i would of maybe had more respect for them with high seats and all
I always thought of them as just big arse premiers.
With my dad owning a 1971 LTD i never gave them much notice back then.

True Castellan, Broughams weren't popular but things have changed in recent years. Holden failed back then as Bro's have the same interior space as the Premier but the Fairlane had a longer wheelbase giving more rear seat leg room. With the Brougham Holden just extended the boot. They rectified this with the HQ Statesman building them with the longer wheel base. I didn't like the Bro either but appreciate them more these days.

The other thing the Statesman rectified was the number of luxury levels.

The Fairlane was available in two levels, stretch Fairmont and super luxury, whilst Brougham was only available in super luxury. Would be interesting to see the sales figures of the Fairlane and Fairlane 500 compared to Brougham.

Also Statesman and Stateman DeVille, Statesman Deville being Brougham replacement and Statesman being stretch Premier.

I love them Broughams now HT would be the Go for me.
When you sit in the back of the HK-T-G Premier or bro they are great there is something about them that you don't get with HQ and modern cars. and the chrome ! and the way the doors shut.

HT/G Brougham if I had a choice. The 308 had heaps more grunt then the 307 as standard.

Yes, I agree. I think that the HG 308 & the 3-Speed Tri-Matic was a better car to drive than the 2 earlier versions. Not just because of the extra HP (it wasn't that much extra in real life) but the extra drive ratio.

As standard true, 308 was pretty much optimised, you have to do internal work to them to liven them up, other than a better exhaust of course. 307 was pretty well choked. With the addition of a 4BBL and Quadrajet off a 327 the 307 is a far better engine though, especially if afforded a better exhaust too.

From memory the 307 had 210hp and the 308 had 240hp? Yes I agree about trimatic compared to powergide. Its also surprising how much extra power can be gained with a 253 with a quadrajet and better flowing exhaust. Really livens them up.

I think that is right. Plenty of stories from the day though of people sticking 327 inlet, carb and exhaust onto HK 307 manual GTS and it was basically as quick as a 327, not much between them. 308 was a bit luckier in HT and HG than the poor old 307 in HK and HT as the 308 could be had with a twin exhaust, although not on Brougham!
