Australian registration records show that 153 were registered in 1968 and 109 in 1969.
So total HK and HT 307 utes regoed in Australia is 262.
They would have also sent some to NZ and some may not have been regoed.
No breakdown of kingswood and Belmont, manual and auto.

Thanks Warren So the only way to tell if a ute is genuine is not by the id tags(unless are they documented somewhere) but by the firewall speedo cable exit and the muffler box heatshield is that correct? Mick

Yes. Although you would also more than likely be auto which is rare in a ute, and a manual would have the saginaw and salisbury humps.

There's an article in the latest Gasoline magazine on that HK 307 auto panel van that was on ebay a couple of years back. It has been restored. Looks great. Check it out. |

Hi, i have a Melbourne built 307 2 speed powerglide ute that i`m restoring. Im trying to find out what badgers were on the car. i found an old print with a 5litre badge on the guards and a kingwood badge above it. I thought only the 5 litre would be correct. Kingswood badge on the centre pillar, Kingswood and 5 litre badge on the tailgate. Can someone please confirm this? thanks

AFAIK the Kingswood script badge above the 5-litre V8 on the forward section of both front guards is correct. This Kingswood badge location is correct for all HK Kingys except the wagon which has them on the rear of the rear quarter.
I'm not so sure about any badges at all on the tailgate, except a Powerglide badge & the H-O-L-D-E-N letters embossed into the sheet metal itself.
The one on the B-pillar of utes is a rectangular 'HOLDEN' badge.

I can confirm as above.
Only HT HG utes had the Belmont/Kingswood nameplate on the pillar. It was a badge unique to them as they were twice as thick and only has two thick attaching post.
Only a HG ute would have engine designation badge on the tailgate, except 161 of course. |

So as Terry and Simon have indicated.
Kingswwod badge on front fender, above 5 litre, Square HOLDEN on pillar, HOLDEN lettering embossed into tailgate. 5 litre only on front fender.

Hi Simon. I always believed that the B-pillar badges that you mentioned were also the ones used on HT sedan C-pillars. They were cast differently (thicker) to incorporate the waterproofing to stop water going inside the cabin. This wasn't necessary on the guard mounted badges. Dr Terry |

Warren, on your last post you said, holden lettering embossed on the tailgate and 5 litre badge only on front fender. should that had said, holden lettering embossed, 5 litre badge on tailgate only. left or right side of tailgate, mine seems to have the badge on the left hand side. Evan

No Dr Terry, that's not the case. The Belmont/Kingswood nameplate is the same for all HK HT HG models on any part of the car except the pillar on HT HG utes. I can't see the reason for this. They have only two thicker mounting posts. |

HK utes have the same badging as all other HKs. So being a Kingswood it will have Kingswood badge on front fenders, if option engine, engine dsignation below Kingswood badge, Holden on grille and rear (utes embossed in tailgate, others with letters) Powerglide on right of decklid if auto.
So if you look at at HK sedan it does not have engine designation on rear of car, only HG have this.
So the badge has been put there by someone.

That seems right with the tailgate as i`ve had it blasted with holes on the right which is obviously the powerglide badge. I dont like the 5 litre and kingswood badge together on the front fender. Too many badges in one spot, but if thats how it is, thats how it is! Evan
